Important: About Hijri Date Calculations
HijriMinder uses astronomical calculations to determine Hijri dates in advance, which allows reliable calendar syncing (Google & Microsoft) and multi-year planning.
Actual dates may vary ±1-2 days from your local mosque announcements because official Islamic dates are often determined by physical moon sighting, which depends on weather conditions, geographical location, and visibility.
This is expected and intentional. Choose the calculation method that matches your community's preference for best alignment. See the Hijri Calculations section below for more details.
Getting Started
After signing up and logging in, navigate to the Dashboard and click the "Add Event" button. Enter your event details, select a Hijri date using the date picker, and choose your preferred calculation method. Click "Save" to sync it to your calendar (Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook).
Once you connect your Google or Microsoft account during signup, HijriMinder automatically syncs Hijri dates to your calendar. Any Hijri events you add in HijriMinder will appear in your connected calendar automatically. When you edit or delete events in HijriMinder, those changes sync in real-time.
We support: Umm al-Qura (Saudi Arabia), ISNA (North America), Muslim World League, Egyptian General Authority, University of Islamic Sciences Karachi, and Institute of Geophysics Tehran. Choose the method used in your region for accurate date calculations.
Go to Settings → Account and select your preferred calculation method from the dropdown. This will be applied to all your Hijri date calculations. You can change it anytime, and existing events will update automatically.
Account & Billing
Go to Settings > Subscription and click "Upgrade Plan". Choose your desired tier (Basic, Standard, or Premium) and complete the payment process. Your new features will be available immediately.
Your 7-day free trial gives you access to all features of your selected plan. When it ends, your subscription automatically becomes active and your first payment is processed using the payment method you provided during signup. You can cancel anytime from your account settings.
Yes, you can cancel anytime from Settings > Subscription. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and debit cards. Payments are processed securely through Dodo Payments. We do not store your card details on our servers.
Calendar Sync
Calendar sync happens in real-time. When you create, edit, or delete an event in HijriMinder, it updates in your connected calendar (Google or Microsoft) within seconds. Sync is one-way: HijriMinder → your calendar. To ensure accurate Hijri date tracking, always add and edit events in HijriMinder.
No. You can only sync to one calendar at a time.
If you disconnect your calendar account (Google or Microsoft), existing events will remain in your calendar but won't sync anymore. Your HijriMinder events are preserved, and you can reconnect anytime to resume syncing Hijri dates.
Yes! Hijri events recur annually based on the Hijri calendar. We automatically calculate the Gregorian date for each occurrence and sync them to your connected calendar (Google or Microsoft). You'll see your milestone or anniversary on the correct date every year.
The Hijri calendar overlay syncs the complete Hijri calendar (all ~354 days per year) to your Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook as all-day events. Each event displays the Hijri date (e.g., "5 Shabaan al-Karim"), so you can see which Hijri day it is at a glance. This is separate from your personal Hijri events—the overlay provides a complete Hijri calendar layer. Available for Standard and Premium plans. Enable it in Settings → Calendar → Hijri Overlay toggle.
The overlay syncs approximately 354 events per Hijri year (one for each day). Since Hijri years are shorter than Gregorian years, we sync 2 Hijri years to cover your subscription period. This ensures you always have the complete Hijri calendar visible in your connected calendar.
Yes! You can toggle the Hijri calendar overlay on or off anytime in Settings → Calendar. When disabled, overlay events are removed from your calendar, but your personal Hijri events remain unaffected.
No. Overlay events are all-day events that show the Hijri date (e.g., "5 Shabaan al-Karim"). Your personal events (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) appear separately. Both can coexist on the same day—the overlay shows which Hijri day it is, while your personal events show your specific milestones.
Hijri Calculations
Different calculation methods use different criteria (astronomical calculations, moon sighting reports, sunset times). This can result in 1-2 day differences. Choose the method used by your local mosque or Islamic authority for best accuracy.
Our conversions are based on established astronomical algorithms used by major Islamic organizations. While we strive for accuracy, actual moon sighting may vary by location. We recommend verifying important religious dates with your local authority.
⚠️ Important: HijriMinder uses astronomical calculations to predict dates in advance, which allows reliable calendar syncing and multi-year planning. However, official Islamic dates are sometimes determined by physical moon sighting, which can vary ±1-2 days from calculations due to weather, location, and visibility. This is expected behavior - choose the calculation method that matches your community's preference for best alignment.
Choose based on your region and community: Umm al-Qura for Saudi Arabia/Gulf, ISNA for North America, Muslim World League for Europe/International, Karachi for South Asia, Egyptian for Egypt/North Africa, or Dawoodi Bohra for the Dawoodi Bohra community. The Dawoodi Bohra method uses precise astronomical calculations and never adjusts for moon sighting. For more details, see our calculation methods guide in the Help Center.
Yes! When creating an event, you can enter either a Hijri or Gregorian date. We'll automatically convert between calendars. You can also optionally save both dates if you want to track both (e.g., birthday on both calendars).
No, Hijri date calculations are not affected by timezone. All calendar events are synced as all-day events. However, we do use your timezone setting for scheduling email reminders at the appropriate local time. You can set your timezone in Settings → Account.
No. HijriMinder uses pure astronomical calculations that remain consistent and predictable. This is intentional - it allows you to sync Hijri dates years in advance with reliable, unchanging dates. We do NOT retroactively adjust dates based on moon sighting announcements, as this would break calendar sync and create inconsistency. If you need exact alignment with local announcements, choose the calculation method closest to your community's practice.
Community Calendars
Community Calendars are add-ons that you can subscribe to in addition to your main HijriMinder plan. These calendars provide access to shared Hijri events from specific communities, mosques, or organizations. When you subscribe to a Community Calendar, all events from that community automatically sync to your personal calendar, keeping you connected with important dates from your community.
Community Calendars work just like any other subscription add-on. You can subscribe to Community Calendars at any time during your subscription period. If you subscribe mid-cycle, prorated billing calculations will apply at the time of subscription. Once subscribed, the Community Calendar renewal date will automatically align with your main subscription renewal date, so both renew together annually.
Yes! You can subscribe to multiple Community Calendars. Each Community Calendar is a separate add-on to your main subscription. You can add or remove Community Calendars at any time from your account settings. All Community Calendars you subscribe to will sync their events to your connected calendar (Google or Microsoft).
Community Calendars are billed annually, just like your main subscription. When you first subscribe to a Community Calendar mid-cycle, you'll be charged a prorated amount for the remaining time until your main subscription renewal date. After that, all your subscriptions (main plan + Community Calendars) renew together on the same date for simplified billing.
Yes, you can cancel a Community Calendar subscription at any time from your account settings. You'll retain access to that community's events until the end of your current billing period. The calendar will stop syncing new events after the subscription period ends, but previously synced events will remain in your calendar.
Troubleshooting
First, check that your Google or Microsoft account is connected in Settings > Connected Accounts. If connected, try refreshing your calendar (may take up to 5 minutes). Still not working? Disconnect and reconnect your account to force a full resync of your Hijri dates.
Check your notification settings in Settings > Notifications and ensure email notifications are enabled. Also check your spam folder - add [email protected] to your contacts. If issues persist, contact our support team.
Click "Forgot Password" on the login page, enter your email, and we'll send you a password reset link. The link expires in 1 hour. If you don't receive it, check your spam folder or contact support.
Yes! Premium users can export events to CSV or iCal format from Settings > Data Export. This allows you to back up your data or import into other calendar applications. Standard and Basic users can request an export by contacting support.
Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This will permanently delete all your data including events, settings, and calendar connections. This action cannot be undone. You'll receive a confirmation email before final deletion.
